LNER K1 Loco (Thompson/Peppercorn)
These locos were part of the Mogul fleet, designed by Thompson and modified by Peppercorn. Only one was ordered for trials, 3445 erected March 1945 and named MacCailin Mor. The trial proved successful against the J39 resulting in an order for 70 to be built between 1949 and 1950 (in BR days) by CME Peppercorn. More pics and history here. only 3445 (61997) was ever in LNER livery, the remainder in BR black. The locos were very successful at hauling coal trains and passenger services as far north as Edinburgh. Withdrawals during the '60's the last K1 withdrawn in 1967, but 62005, the last K1 in service, has been preserved.
The TRS2004, TRS2006 and TS2009 tested locos include animated cab crew, cab views, animated coal loading and user configurable lamp headcodes. Liveries may be selected from LNER green (only 3445)/BR early/BR late.
